iHerb English Language Satelitte School - Samrong Sen Community

The project is currently managing by Go Ahead Organization. The handover of this project was made on November 1, 2018. It was coordinated by the Cambodian Children's Advocacy Organization (CCAFO), License # 41 សជណ, dated March 28,  2006.

Geography: Samrong Sen is located in central Cambodia on the east bank of the Stueng Chinit River, in the flood plains of the Tonle Sap River, near the ancient capital of Oudong. The site is approachable from the Kampong Chhnang, which is 22 kilometres (14 mi) away. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samrong_Sen).

History of the project:  In 2015, the Head of Kampong Leng Office of Education, Youth and Sport Mr. Sem Sokhorn introduced the iHerb Project Initiatives English Language Project (a project of iHerb Project Initiatives) to primary and secondary schools students in Samrong Sen which later on they joined the iHerb English language school in Dar Primary School.

Status: Local English Teacher Prak Ay, who has experience in teaching English language and served as project administrator-bookkeeper since 2015, was assigned to be the English School Satellite Administrator and Teacher teaching 105 students, who are grade 4-6 (primary school) and 7-9 (secondary school).

Samrong Sen Classrooms Construction Project

 

Status: The construction is almost completed as of November 12, 2018.

History: July 18, 2018, the construction of a new school building was started.  Participants who joined the opening ceremony are iHerb Charitable Foundation Representative Ms. Veronika Geyer, Go Ahead Organization CEO Mr. Thun Chantha, Kampong Leng Project Manager and iHerb English School Principal Mr. Khem Sarmoeun, Kampong Leng Deputy Governor, teachers and communities in Samrong Sen.  The building consist of two classrooms which is one for secondary school and another one for English language class.  Funding for the construction of this building is made possible by iHerb Charitable Foundation.
